Essex Youth Theater is a specialized program that uses custom-written scripts to guarantee equal roles for a specific number of students. Class size is kept small, with each child receiving lots of individual attention. And every semester culminates in a full-scale musical production. Each class also incorporates acting exercises, theater games and improvs 
that help students express their creativity and develop dramatic skills. 
The atmosphere is supportive and nurturing, with an emphasis on 
self-esteem and fun learning. Teachers at Essex Youth Theater are professional directors specially trained in children's theater. Skilled artists, they bring many years of experience, as well as a love and understanding of young actors, to every class. Essex Youth Theater is artist in residence at The Studio Playhouse, 14 Alvin Place in Upper Montclair, (right by the Acme on Valley Road). The big, beautiful Playhouse stage gives our students a performance to remember! Additional classes as well as the Summer Theater Day Camp Comedies are held at the Montclair Operetta Club, 494 Valley Road, Upper Montclair, (corner of Alvin Place).
