Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival
The Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival at Branch Brook Park is the ultimate way to kick off the spring season. The park has more than 5,000 cherry trees that produce an array of beautiful blossoms this time of year. Visit and take photos with family throughout the week, or enjoy many of the fabulous featured events that take place during the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Cherry Blossom Challenge Bike Race
Saturday, April 6th
7am – 1pm
Essex County Branch Brook Park, Northern Division Oval, Heller Parkway, Newark
Race through the Park in the Cherry Blossom Challenge! Various races occur throughout the morning. Featuring cash prizes. Registration fees apply to racers. Come cheer on the cyclists while enjoying a day in the park. Free to enter the Park and watch!
Cherry Blossom 10K Run
Sunday, April 7th
10am – 12pm
Branch Brook Park, Cherry Blossom Visitor’s Center, Mill Street Entrance, Belleville
Race through the historic cherry tree groves! The first 500 registrants will receive a commemorative Cherry Blossom 10K Run long-sleeved T-shirt. The top three finishers in each age category will receive a commemorative fleece jacket. $3.00 of each registration fee is donated to the Special Olympics. Same day registration begins at 8am. Advanced registration is recommended. Race starts at 10am. Disabled Run starts at 10:10am. Free to enter the Park and watch!
1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
Saturday, April 13th
10am – 11am
Join your family and classmates for the 2019 One-Mile Fun Run. Children aged 6 through 14 can run through Branch Brook Park to celebrate the blooming of the historic cherry tree groves.
Essex County Family Day
Saturday, April 13th
11am – 3pm
Essex County Branch Brook Park, Concert Grove, Southern Division, Park Street Entrance, Newark
Visit the renovated and landscaped concert grove to enjoy an afternoon outdoors with your family. Test out your hula hooping, work out in the paddle boats, make crafts, get your face painted, or grab food from one of many food vendors. Other family activities include a fishing derby that runs from 12:00 to 2pm.

Enjoy a family day to celebrate the Cherry Blossom Festival! A packed schedule of events includes Japanese cultural demonstrations, children's activities, live music, a crafter's marketplace, food and more!
