Put Your Best Foot Forward

When experiencing foot or ankle pain, it’s best to consult with a specialist. “I’ve probably seen the problem multiple times and can come up with a treatment plan that best suits your individual needs,” says podiatrist Dr. Matthew Wachtler of Cedar Grove Foot & Ankle.

Dr. Wachtler treats all age ranges and conditions, from small children with warts and growth plate issues and middle agers with tendonitis and sprains to the elderly suffering from arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, and neuropathy.

To try to prevent foot and ankle injuries from happening in the first place, Dr. Wachtler recommends wearing supportive shoes and even over-the-counter orthotics if you’re active and need more ongoing support. If tightness is a problem, it can aggravate medical issues such as  arthritis, so a good stretching regimen before and after exercise is helpful. He also recommends taking it slow when getting into a new activity.

In December, the practice moved one suite over to a new and modern office. “My patients, my staff and I really enjoy coming into this beautiful facility,” says Dr. Wachtler.
